課程概述

The acquisition of a living Second Foreign Language (German, Spanish, French, Russian, etc.) gains more weight in the near future for Taiwanese Junior and Senior High School students. Nevertheless, the methodology of teaching a second foreign language differs significantly from the acquisition of English as the first second language.(This approach ist called: Foreign Language Teaching after English as a First Foreign Language) Three major reasons do underline this statement: Before learning a second foreign language all students have to learn English. Consequently, teachers of any other European language are confronted not only with linguistic interference of Chinese but also – and mainly - of English. The teacher is also confronted with already fossilized habits of foreign language learning. Furthermore, the time given to learn a second foreign language is limited. Those reasons leads to the conclusion, that teaching (and learning) of a second foreign language differs from teaching English as the major first foreign language esp. in Taiwan and in order to keep up with the need of further foreign language acquisition this course is offered.

課程目標
The course aims to introduce a broad knowledge of modern European theories of second foreign language acquisition. All language skills – writing, speaking, reading, listening and translating – will be discussed. In addition the different habits of foreign language the learning style from different kinds of students and how to positively influence and support the acquisition of a second foreign language will be topic of this course. This requires a reflection on the process of one’s own language acquisition and learning habits.
The course will offer a profound theoretical background and, practical experiences teaching a second foreign language.
This course aims at students of any second foreign language who plan to teach a second foreign language. Teaching materials will be offered to any session.

課程要求
This course will be taught in Chinese and English. Every student willing to take this class should have a good command of Chinese and English. Furthermore basic knowledge of a Second Foreign Language (e.g. German, French, Spanish, Japanese or Russian) at least on level 2 is necessary.
